The fair theme will be “Old School” and they will be celebrating the history of the area, where they have come from as a school, and going back to the old school community values.

Some of the things they will have there will be:

Above all, the Perth Blues Club provides a relaxed atmosphere for enthusiasts to meet on a regular basis.

2017 sees the start of our 25th (Silver Jubilee) year and in that time the club was dark for just one night, due to a tremendous thunder storm that took out the power at the venue.

Considered by many national and international artists as the “best blues club in Australia”, we look forward to many more years bringing local, national and international blues and roots performers to Perth, and we look forward to welcoming you, too.

Weeds -friend or foe? With Charles OTWAY

Weeds – the canary in the garden. Learn to see weeds differently. Why does nature grow weeds? What do weeds tell you about your soil health? Which weeds are healthier to eat than the vegies you are growing now? …and much much more.

NPCG is thrilled to be welcoming expert permaculture gardener CHARLES OTWAY to present this event. All welcome.

members – free, non-members $5. Afternoon tea included.

Located at 10 Farmer Street, North Perth

North Perth Community Garden (NPCG) is a community hub where people can gather, socialise, garden and learn about sustainability initiatives.

The 820m2 space is more than a place for individuals to garden. It is an integral part of the local community and many of the members or their partners are also members of the immediate neighbours Vincent Men’s Shed, North Perth Tennis Club or North Perth Bowling Club.

The precinct is a hive of activity for many. The  garden is predominantly for growing herbs, vegetables and some flowers. If you are interested in larger plants there is a  small orchard and a native garden area which is cared for by all members. The garden is not intended as certified organic but the aim is to operate on organic principles nurturing our soil, using low toxicity, naturally derived products and limiting any type of chemical use.

The garden also consists of 41 individually leased plots for members to grow their own produce and three large plots managed by a group of communal gardeners who share the fruits of their labours.

NPCG is an incorporated body and is operated by a community steering committee and supported by the City of Vincent.

At NPCG Vincent residents have three options of membership; annually leasing an individual plot, an annual contribution toward the community plots and access to the produce from the community plot, or a friend of NPCG membership.

For more information on the garden, upcoming events or workshops and memberships please contact northperthcommunitygarden@gmail.com or visit their website or Facebook page.
